Vaishno Devi Battery Car Booking Online Step-by-Step Guide

Vaishno Devi Battery Car Booking Online: Step by Step Guide

The track from Ardhkuwari to Bhawan is steep and long. A battery car saves hours and energy, especially for elderly pilgrims. Here is how to book your seat online, with a video you can follow along.

Battery cars run on the Ardhkuwari to Bhawan stretch of the Vaishno Devi track and are operated by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board. Seats are limited, so booking in advance is the most reliable way to get one. Booked pilgrims are also usually served ahead of those waiting in the counter queue.

Keep these ready

Your Yatra registration details, a valid photo ID (Aadhaar is commonly used) for each traveller, your mobile number for the OTP, and a UPI app, card or net banking for payment.

Step by step: book your battery car online

1

Open the official website

Go to maavaishnodevi.org. Type the address yourself instead of clicking ads or unknown links, because fake booking sites exist and the Shrine Board has warned about them.

2

Register or log in

Sign in with your mobile number or email and confirm the OTP. First-time users can create an account in a minute.

3

Select Battery Car Booking

From the online services menu, choose the battery car booking option. Menu names can change slightly, so match what you see in the video.

4

Choose your route

Pick Ardhkuwari to Bhawan for the ride up, or Bhawan to Ardhkuwari for the ride back. You can book each direction separately.

5

Select date and time slot

Choose the date and an available slot. Work backwards from when you will reach Ardhkuwari, and leave a buffer for the walk and queues, because a missed slot may need rescheduling at the station.

6

Enter passenger details

Fill in the name, age, gender and ID details of each traveller exactly as on their ID card. Mismatched details can cause trouble at boarding.

7

Pay online

Pay through the secure gateway using UPI, card or net banking. Do not close the page until the success message appears.

8

Download and save your ticket

Download the e-ticket, take a screenshot and keep a printout if you can. Mobile signal on the track can be weak.

9

Report at the battery car station

Reach the station before your slot, show the ticket and photo ID, and board when called. Follow the staff’s signs for the right bay.

Online slots full? Try the counter

If no online slot is available, you can try the battery car counters at Ardhkuwari. For the return ride, tickets are commonly available at the counter near Manokamna Bhawan at Bhawan, on a first come, first served basis. Expect queues in peak season.

Useful tips before you go

  • Book early for Navratri, weekends and school holidays, when slots fill fast.
  • Complete your Yatra registration first, since the RFID Yatra slip is needed on the track.
  • Reach Ardhkuwari with time to spare. Walking up from Katra takes several hours.
  • Service can pause for bad weather or technical reasons, so keep your plans flexible.
  • Read the cancellation and refund terms on the payment page before confirming.
  • Book only on the official website and never pay people who promise “confirmed” tickets in Katra.

How to Book Ropeway in Vaishno Devi: Step-by-Step Guide

How to Book Ropeway in Vaishno Devi: Step by Step Guide

The climb from Bhawan to Bhairon Ghati is steep and tiring after darshan. The ropeway turns it into a short ride. Here is how to get your ticket, with a video walkthrough you can follow on screen.

Every pilgrim to Mata Vaishno Devi is encouraged to visit the Bhairon Temple after darshan, and the walk up is about 2.5 km of uphill track. The Bhawan–Bhairon passenger ropeway cuts that to a few minutes, which helps elderly pilgrims, children and anyone who is already exhausted from the yatra.
